Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Lightly flour your work surface and roll out the sheet of puff pastry.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, chocolate chips, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix until smooth.
- Slice the puff pastry into even squares (about 3x3 inches).
- Scoop a spoonful of the ricotta mixture onto the center of each pastry square.
- Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling and pinch to seal tightly.
- Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the pastry squares.
Baking
- Place the squares on a lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Allow to cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Serving
- Enjoy warm, or let them cool completely before serving later.
Notes
If you can't find ricotta, cottage cheese blended until smooth works as a substitute. Watch the baking time closely to avoid burnt edges. Ensure the pastry is well-sealed to prevent filling from leaking.
