Ingredients

Base Ingredients
  • 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows Can substitute with regular marshmallows, cut into smaller pieces
  • 4 tablespoons butter Can be substituted with a plant-based alternative for a vegan option
Topping Ingredients
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use dairy-free chocolate chips for a vegan option
  • 1 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts Optional, add on top while chocolate is warm

Method

Preparation
  1. Grease an 8×8-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Add the mini marshmallows and stir until completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
  3. Gently fold in the Rice Krispies cereal, ensuring every piece is well coated with the melted mixture.
  4. Quickly transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Press evenly into the bottom using a spatula or your hands.
  5. Drizzle the caramel sauce over the crisped rice layer and spread it evenly.
  6. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 20-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Pour over the caramel layer and spread it out nicely.
  7. If using chopped nuts, sprinkle them on top of the melted chocolate while it’s still warm.
  8. Allow the bars to cool at room temperature or refrigerate for about 30 minutes until set.
  9. Once set, cut into squares and enjoy!
