Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Beat in the egg, cocoa powder, and red food coloring until fully combined.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to your wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the white chocolate chips if desired.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are slightly firm but the centers are soft.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months. When ready to eat, microwave for about 10 seconds for a freshly baked taste.
