Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Whisk together until well mixed.
- Cut in the softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk and egg. Gradually add this mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Gently fold in the fresh raspberries.
Baking
- Grease a muffin tin or line with muffin liners. Spoon the batter into each cup, filling them about 2/3 full.
- Add a dollop of custard on top of each bun.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean.
- Allow the buns to cool in the tin for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Store buns in an airtight container for up to three days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to one month. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 5-10 minutes.
