Beef Marinade
  • 500 g beef (such as sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced Ensure it’s tender and high-quality.
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Ensure it’s Halal.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch For thickening.
Cooking Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil Or any preferred oil.
  • 2 cups mixed vegetables (like bell peppers, broccoli, and carrots) Choose your favorites.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adds flavor.
  • 1 inch ginger, minced For freshness.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil For extra flavor.
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
Garnishes
  • 2 pieces green onions, chopped For garnishing.
  • sesame seeds Optional, for garnishing.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine sliced beef with soy sauce and cornstarch. Allow it to marinate for about 10 minutes while you prep the veggies.
Cooking
  1. In a large pan or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add the marinated beef. Sear it for about 3-4 minutes until it’s browned and nearly cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add garlic and ginger, stirring for about 30 seconds to release their aromas. Next, toss in the mixed vegetables and stir-fry for about 4-5 minutes until they are just tender but still crunchy.
  4. Return the cooked beef to the pan along with sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine and let everything heat for another 2-3 minutes.
  5. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if you like.

Notes

Feel free to swap beef for chicken or tofu if desired. Pre-cut vegetables and beef in advance to save time. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to a month.
