Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree Can substitute with applesauce.
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 large egg

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, sugar, brown sugar, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well blended.
  3. In another bowl, beat the egg, then add milk, pumpkin puree, and melted butter, mixing until smooth.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined. Avoid overmixing, or your buns may turn out tough.
  5. Use your hands to form the dough into small balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, giving each bun a little space to expand.
Baking
  1. Place in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow them to cool slightly before serving. They’re delicious fresh out of the oven or toasted for a breakfast treat!

Notes

To keep your Pumpkin Spice Buns delicious, allow them to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. They can be frozen for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) or microwave until warmed through.
