Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure it's softened but not melted.
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract Can be substituted.
Decorative Elements
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Mix in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are just golden. The cookies will look slightly underbaked but will firm up while cooling.
Cooling and Decorating
  1. Allow the cookies to cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  2. Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar and add decorative edible flowers if desired.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat at 300°F (150°C) for about 5 minutes to restore texture.
