  • 2-3 tablespoons salt adjust to taste
  • Oil for frying (canola or vegetable oil)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel the potatoes and cut them into sticks about ¼ inch thick for uniform cooking.
  2. Soak the potato sticks in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.
  3. After soaking, drain the water and pat the potato sticks dry with a clean kitchen towel.
Cooking
  1. Heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C) in a deep-fryer or large pot.
  2. Carefully add a handful of dried potato sticks into the hot oil, avoiding overcrowding.
  3. Fry for 5-7 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy.
  4. Remove the potato sticks using a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels.
  5. Immediately sprinkle with salt or your favorite spices while still hot.
Serving
  1. Serve the potato sticks fresh and hot, paired with your choice of dipping sauces.

Notes

For best results, try sweet potatoes for a different flavor. Fry in batches to maintain oil temperature and avoid soggy sticks. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for long-term storage.
