Preparation
- Start by draining and pressing the firm tofu for at least 20 minutes to eliminate excess moisture. Cut it into cubes or slices, based on your preference.
- In a large bowl, mix the cumin, paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Add the tofu to the bowl and gently toss to coat it evenly with the spices. Let the marinated tofu sit for 10-15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- In a non-stick skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. You want it hot enough to give the tofu the perfect crispy texture.
- Carefully add the marinated tofu to the skillet. Allow them to cook undisturbed for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown on one side. Flip the tofu chunks and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until all sides are crispy.
- Once browned, remove the tofu from the skillet and let it drain on a paper towel if desired. Garnish with fresh herbs for added flavor and serve with your choice of side dishes.
Notes
For best results, ensure all excess moisture is removed from the tofu. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. When reheating, use an air fryer or skillet over medium heat to restore crispiness.
