Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (Halal-friendly)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns Can be toasted optionally

Method

Cooking Steps
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and green bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, cooking for an additional 3 minutes.
  3. Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, and drain any excess fat.
  4. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, mixing it well into the meat and vegetables. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes.
  5. Place a slice of provolone cheese on top of the meat mixture in the skillet, and cover with a lid. Allow the cheese to melt for about 2 minutes.
  6. Toast the hamburger buns lightly, if desired. Spoon the cheesy mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, then top with the other half.
  7. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

For lower-fat options, substitute ground turkey or chicken for ground beef. You can also use any melty cheese like American, cheddar, or pepper jack. Leftovers can be stored for up to 3 days in the refrigerator or for 3 months in the freezer.
