Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 12 oz Pasta of your choice (such as penne, spaghetti, or fettuccine)
  • 1 cup Pesto sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese, grated (plus extra for serving)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper

Method

Cooking Pasta
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add in your pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes.
Preparing the Pesto Sauce
  1. If using store-bought pesto, pour it into a bowl. For homemade pesto, blend fresh basil, garlic, pine nuts, and Parmesan cheese in a food processor, then add olive oil while blending until smooth.
Combining Ingredients
  1. Drain your pasta and return it to the pot. Add in the pesto sauce, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss until the pasta is evenly coated.
Serving
  1. Plate your Pesto Pasta and sprinkle with extra Parmesan cheese. Optionally, add a dash of pepper.

Notes

For nut allergies, substitute sunflower seeds in the pesto. For a dairy-free option, use nutritional yeast instead of Parmesan. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze for up to three months.
