Cooking Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add in your pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually around 8-10 minutes.
Preparing the Pesto Sauce
- If using store-bought pesto, pour it into a bowl. For homemade pesto, blend fresh basil, garlic, pine nuts, and Parmesan cheese in a food processor, then add olive oil while blending until smooth.
Combining Ingredients
- Drain your pasta and return it to the pot. Add in the pesto sauce, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Toss until the pasta is evenly coated.
Serving
- Plate your Pesto Pasta and sprinkle with extra Parmesan cheese. Optionally, add a dash of pepper.
Notes
For nut allergies, substitute sunflower seeds in the pesto. For a dairy-free option, use nutritional yeast instead of Parmesan. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days, or freeze for up to three months.
