Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
- Mix in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
Baking and Cooling
- Place the pans in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before turning them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting
- Once cooled, frost with your favorite frosting and add toppings as desired.
