Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk At room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs At room temperature

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  3. In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. Mix in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  7. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  8. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
Baking and Cooling
  1. Place the pans in the oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before turning them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Frosting
  1. Once cooled, frost with your favorite frosting and add toppings as desired.

Store cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, refrigerate for up to a week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
