Ingredients

For the Dumplings
  • 6-8 pieces fresh peaches (medium-sized and ripe) Choose ripe but firm peaches for the best texture.
  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
For the Syrup
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (optional for extra sweetness) Feel free to omit if you prefer less sweetness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Gently wash and peel your peaches, removing their pits.
  3. If the peaches are firm, a quick dip in boiling water can help with peeling.
Assembly
  1. Take each crescent roll and wrap it around a peach, sealing the edges well.
  2. Place the wrapped peaches in a greased baking dish.
Making the Sauce
  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  2. Stir in the sugar, brown sugar (if using), cinnamon, vanilla extract, and water.
  3. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring frequently.
Baking
  1. Carefully pour the syrup over the peach dumplings in the baking dish.
  2. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and the syrup is bubbling.
Serving
  1. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
  2. Enjoy warm, ideally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Peach dumplings can be served with whipped cream or a sprinkle of chopped nuts for added texture. For drinks, sweet iced tea or lemonade pairs well.
