  • 1 pound Ground beef (80% lean preferred)
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 cup Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Breadcbs (plain or Italian seasoned)
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup (plus extra for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil (for caramelizing onions)
Optional Ingredients
  • Herbs like thyme or parsley For extra flavor

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and cook until soft and brown, about 10-15 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent burning. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcbs, shredded cheddar, minced garlic, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and the cooled caramelized onions.
  4. Crack the egg into the mixture and season with salt and pepper. Mix everything by hand until just combined. Be careful not to over-mix!
  5. Transfer the mixture to a greased loaf pan or shape into a loaf and place it on a lined baking sheet. Brush the top with a little additional ketchup for extra flavor.
Cooking
  1. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  2. Let the meatloaf rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides!

Notes

Don’t overmix: Gently combine the ingredients until just mixed to ensure a tender texture. Experiment with cheeses: Try using mozzarella for a different flavor profile. Add some spice: If you enjoy a kick, mix in some crushed red pepper flakes or sriracha for a unique twist.
