  2. If using homemade dough, roll it out on a floured surface to shape it into a 12-inch round. For store-bought, follow the package instructions.
  3. Spoon the tomato sauce onto the dough, spreading it evenly and leaving about a ½-inch edge.
  4. Distribute the sliced mozzarella evenly over the sauce.
  5. Drizzle olive oil over the pizza and sprinkle a pinch of salt.
Baking
  1. Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven or pizza stone and bake for about 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  2. Once out of the oven, scatter fresh basil leaves on top.
Serving
  1. Allow the pizza to cool slightly, then cut into slices and serve.

Notes

For best results, let the rolled-out dough rest for 10 minutes before adding toppings to avoid shrinkage. Consider experimenting with different cheeses or adding fresh herbs for extra flavor. To avoid a soggy crust, pre-bake the crust for a few minutes if necessary.
