Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 2 cups diced peaches (fresh or canned) Choose fresh or canned peaches based on availability.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Divided into two parts for filling and syrup.
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
For the Dumplings
  • 1 package refrigerated biscuit dough Ensure it's Halal-compliant.
  • 1/2 cup butter (melted) Halal-compliant butter is recommended.
  • 1 cup water Used to make syrup.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the diced peaches with 1/4 cup of sugar and cinnamon. Gently mix to avoid breaking the peaches.
  3. Open the package of biscuit dough. If pre-cut, separate the pieces; otherwise, roll out each biscuit into flat circles.
  4. Place spoonfuls of the peach mixture in the center of each dough circle. Fold the edges over and pinch to seal.
  5. Arrange the dumplings in the greased baking dish.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix melted butter, remaining 1/4 cup sugar, and water. Pour over the dumplings.
  7. Bake for about 30-40 minutes until golden brown and syrup is bubbling.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of honey.

Notes

For substitutions, use canned peaches in light syrup for a sweeter taste. Ensure dumplings are well sealed to prevent leaks while baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month.
