Cooking Directions
- In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Add 2 cups of elbow macaroni to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions, usually about 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Once the pasta is cooked, reduce the heat to medium-low and add 1 cup of milk, 1 tablespoon of butter, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Stir until everything is well combined and the cheese is melted.
- Add salt and pepper to taste, adjusting according to your preference.
- Once everything is mixed and creamy, remove from heat and serve hot!
Notes
For the creamiest mac and cheese, avoid high heat when melting the cheese—low and slow is the way to go. If you have leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for about 2 months. Reheat with a splash of milk to restore creaminess.
