Ingredients

Pasta and Beef
  • 8 oz pasta (any shape you prefer)
  • 1 lb ground beef (Halal)
Sauce and Broth
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (check for Halal certification)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 cup beef broth (or water)
Vegetables
  • 1 cup bell peppers (diced)
  • 1/2 unit onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
Seasoning and Garnish
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional) Optional topping

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by gathering all your ingredients. This will make the cooking process smooth and enjoyable!
Cooking
  1. In a large pot over medium heat, add your ground beef. Cook it until browned, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Once the beef is browned, add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant.
  3. Toss in the diced bell peppers and stir well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to soften them slightly.
  4. Pour in the barbecue sauce, honey, and beef broth. Stir everything together to combine.
  5. Add the pasta directly into the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and simmer for about 12-15 minutes, or until the pasta is al dente, stirring occasionally.
  6. Once the pasta is cooked, season with salt and pepper to taste. If you wish to add cheese, sprinkle it on top while the dish is still hot and cover until melted. Serve immediately!

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stove over low heat, adding a splash of beef broth or water to maintain moisture. Can freeze for up to 2 months.
