Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast 2 ¼ teaspoons
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water about 110°F/43°C
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the warm water and olive oil. Once combined, pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients.
  3. Stir until a rough dough forms. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  4. Return the dough to the bowl and cover it with a clean towel. Let it rise in a warm spot for 20 minutes.
  5. After rising, punch down the dough to release air pockets. Shape it into a loaf, placing it in a lightly greased 8x4 inch loaf pan.
  6. Cover the loaf again and let it rise for another 20 minutes.
  7. While the dough is rising, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Baking
  1. Once the dough has risen, bake it in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  2. Allow it to cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Serve warm with toppings like butter, dips, or alongside soups and salads. For added flavor, consider herbs or cheese in the dough.
