Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder Use high-quality cocoa for best flavor.
  • ½ cup milk Whole or 2% milk recommended.
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter Cut into pieces for easier melting.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional) For added richness.
  • a pinch salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Grease an 8-inch square baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the granulated sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until completely mixed.
Cooking
  1. Pour in the milk and add the butter. Place the saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Stir the mixture continuously to ensure the sugar dissolves completely. Bring it to a boil, stirring constantly, then let it boil for about 2–3 minutes without stirring.
  3. To check if it’s ready, drop a small spoonful into a glass of cold water. It should form a soft ball. If not, let it cook for another minute and test again.
  4. Once done, remove the pan from the heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes without stirring.
Finalizing
  1. Stir in the vanilla extract and chocolate chips (if using) until melted and well combined.
  2. Pour the mixture into your prepped baking dish and spread evenly.
  3. Allow it to cool completely at room temperature or refrigerate for quicker setting.
  4. Once firm, cut it into squares and enjoy your creamy, chocolatey delights!

Notes

Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for added texture. Experiment by adding nuts or a sprinkle of sea salt for an extra flavor boost. Store in an airtight container for freshness.
