Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 package package of puff pastry (two sheets, thawed)
  • 1 cup Nutella (or more, if you're feeling indulgent!)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar (for sprinkling)
  • to taste servings Vanilla ice cream (optional, for serving)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface until about 1/8 inch thick.
  3. Slice the pastry into equal squares, approximately 3x3 inches in size.
  4. Spoon about one tablespoon of Nutella into the center of each square.
  5. Bring the corners of each pastry square together and pinch them firmly to seal the Nutella inside.
  6. Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush the mixture over the tops of the pastries.
  7. Dust the tops with sugar for added sweetness and crunch.
  8. Place the pastry bombs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 12 to 15 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving, optionally pairing with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze before baking for up to 2 months. Reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5 to 10 minutes to retain flaky texture.
