Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter, softened Should be softened but not melted
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Can substitute with almond extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour For gluten-free, can substitute with coconut flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar using an electric mixer until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, ensuring everything is well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips, making sure they’re evenly distributed.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie for spreading.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
  2. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or freeze for up to three months.
