Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can be substituted with gluten-free flour.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water Do not stir after adding.

Preparation
  1. Grease the inside of your slow cooker lightly with cooking spray or butter.
  2. In the slow cooker, mix together the granulated sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Pour in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract. Stir to combine until there are no dry spots.
  4. Carefully pour the boiling water over the mixture in the slow cooker. Do not stir!
Cooking
  1. Cover and cook on high for about 2 to 2.5 hours, or until the cake has set and a toothpick comes out clean from the edges.
Serving
  1. Let it cool slightly before serving. Scoop out the cake with a spoon, pairing it with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream.

Notes

For a gluten-free option, use a 1:1 gluten-free flour blend. Check the cake around the 2-hour mark to avoid overcooking. Feel free to mix in chocolate chips or nuts for extra texture.
