  • 1 cup brown sugar Light brown sugar recommended for richer flavor.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Can substitute with light brown sugar.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Make sure it's sifted for even mixing.
  • 1 cup chocolate chips Use semi-sweet or milk chocolate as preferred.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Balances the sweetness.
  • 2 tablespoons milk Adjust for consistency if needed.

Preparation
  1. Clear and clean your countertop, and gather all ingredients. Line an 8×8 inch baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes with a hand mixer.
  3. Mix in the vanilla extract and milk until fully combined.
  4. Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until the dough comes together without overmixing.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  6. Spread the mixture into the prepared baking dish, pressing it down firmly and evenly.
  7. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes until set.
  8. Once set, remove from the dish using the parchment paper, cut into bars, and enjoy!

Notes

Store bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. Freeze for up to three months if needed. Best enjoyed cold.
