  • Butter for grilling Provides a crispy texture.

Method

Preparation
  1. Make sure your roast beef is sliced thinly and that all your other ingredients are ready.
Cooking
  1. In a small saucepan, warm your beef gravy over low heat until it is hot but not boiling.
  2. Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each slice of French bread.
  3. On the unbuttered side of two slices of bread, layer your roast beef, followed by provolone cheese, pickles, and jalapeƱos (if using). Drizzle hot gravy over the filling.
  4. Place the other two slices of bread on top, butter side up. Grill in a skillet over medium heat until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes.
  5. Gently flip the sandwiches and grill the other side until golden and the cheese has melted, about another 4-5 minutes.
  6. Remove from the skillet, let them cool for a moment, then slice in half and serve with extra gravy on the side.

Notes

For best results, warm the ingredients like the gravy before assembling. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. When reheating, use a skillet for that crispy finish.
