Muddy Buddies are a crunchy snack made by coating Chex cereal in a rich blend of melted chocolate and peanut butter, then tossing it in powdered sugar for a sweet finish.

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients
  • 9 cups Chex cereal (corn, rice, or a mix) Choose your favorite flavor.
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips Can be substituted with dark chocolate.
  • ½ cup peanut butter Creamy or crunchy, your choice!
  • 4 cups powdered sugar Use more or less to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional for extra flavor.

Preparation
  1. Find a large mixing bowl and a cookie sheet. Line the cookie sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the milk chocolate chips and peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth and melted.
  3. Pour the melted mixture over the Chex cereal in the large bowl. Gently fold the cereal until it’s well coated with the chocolate and peanut butter mix.
  4. Add the powdered sugar to the bowl and toss until all pieces are evenly coated. You may want to do this in batches for easier mixing.
  5. Spread the coated mixture onto the lined cookie sheet, ensuring it’s in an even layer. Let it cool for about 30 minutes.
  6. Once cooled, break apart the clusters and store them in an airtight container. Enjoy your Muddy Buddies!

Notes

Store Muddy Buddies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week. Refrigeration can prolong freshness but they're best at room temperature.
