  • 1 cup uncooked white rice Ensure it's rinsed until water runs clear.
  • 2 cups milk Consider whole milk for added richness.
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Adjust sweetness to preference.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon Optional for extra flavor.
  • 1/2 cup raisins Optional for added texture.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Rinse the uncooked white rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
Cooking Rice
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until rice is tender.
Mix Ingredients
  1. Stir in the milk and granulated sugar into the cooked rice. Heat again, stirring frequently until it thickens slightly (about 15 minutes).
Add Flavors
  1. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and ground cinnamon, and fold in raisins if using.
Serve
  1. Transfer to serving bowls or a large dish. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm or chilled.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. Reheat in the microwave with a splash of milk if needed.
