Preparation
- Rinse the uncooked white rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
Cooking Rice
- In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until rice is tender.
Mix Ingredients
- Stir in the milk and granulated sugar into the cooked rice. Heat again, stirring frequently until it thickens slightly (about 15 minutes).
Add Flavors
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and ground cinnamon, and fold in raisins if using.
Serve
- Transfer to serving bowls or a large dish. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm or chilled.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. Reheat in the microwave with a splash of milk if needed.
