Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1.5 cups of all-purpose flour, 0.25 cups of granulated sugar, and 0.25 teaspoon of salt. Mix well.
- Add 0.5 cup of softened unsalted butter to the dry ingredients and blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Incorporate 1 egg yolk into the mixture, followed by 2-3 tablespoons of cold water, mixing until combined.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut out circles and place in tartlet tins or a muffin tin.
- Poke the bottom of each shell with a fork to prevent puffing. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Allow to cool.
- Once cooled, fill the mini tart shells with your favorite sweet or savory fillings.
Notes
Store the mini tart shells in an airtight container for up to 3 days. They can be frozen for up to a month and reheated at 350°F (175°C) for 5-7 minutes.
