Ingredients

For the Churro Dough
  • 1 cup water Used as the base for the dough.
  • 2 tablespoons sugar Adds sweetness to the dough.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil Used in the dough mixture.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Base ingredient for the churro dough.
  • 2 pieces eggs Bind the dough together and add richness.
  • Oil for frying Any vegetable oil works.
For Coating
  • to taste sugar and cinnamon Used for coating the churros after frying.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring this mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.
  2. Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the all-purpose flour until fully combined. The mixture may be quite thick—this is normal.
  3. Allow the dough to cool slightly, then add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition until smooth.
  4. In a deep pot or frying pan, heat oil over medium heat—enough to submerge the mini churros but not overflow.
Cooking
  1. Using a piping bag fitted with a star tip, pipe small strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them off with scissors or a spatula.
  2. Fry until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  3. Remove the mini churros from the oil and drain them briefly on paper towels.
  4. While they’re still warm, roll them in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon until evenly coated.
Serving
  1. Enjoy the churros warm on their own, or with your favorite dipping sauce!

Notes

For perfect churros, ensure the oil is at the right temperature. You can keep cooked churros warm in a low oven if frying in batches.
