Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line your baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a separate large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar with a mixer until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and egg yolk until well blended.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- Gently fold in the mini chocolate chips into the cookie dough.
- Use a small cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results: Ensure your butter is softened but not melted; use a spoon to fill your measuring cup with flour and level it off; if the dough feels too soft, consider chilling it for 30 minutes before baking. Variations: Add chopped nuts, white chocolate chips, or dried fruits for twists.
