Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 ounces spaghetti
  • 1 pound ground beef (Halal)
  • 1 jar spaghetti sauce (26 ounces, check for no alcohol content)
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley (for garnish)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the spaghetti according to the package directions until al dente. Drain the spaghetti and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Season with salt and pepper, breaking it into small pieces until completely cooked. Drain any excess fat.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked spaghetti, ground beef, and spaghetti sauce. Mix thoroughly until everything is well coated.
Assembly
  1. In a separate bowl, mix the cottage cheese, sour cream, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Stir to combine.
  2. In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread half of the spaghetti mixture evenly, followed by the cheese mixture. Top with remaining spaghetti mixture.
  3. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese on top.
Cooking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  2. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes, then garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

You can swap ground beef for ground chicken or turkey (make sure it's Halal) for a lighter option. For a vegetarian twist, consider using lentils and mushrooms. To save time, cook the spaghetti and ground beef a day in advance.
