Main Ingredients
  • 4-6 pieces whole, cleaned sardines (fresh or frozen) Fresh sardines are preferred for better flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 piece lemon, juice Freshly squeezed for best flavor.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • ΒΌ cup fresh herbs (parsley or dill), finely chopped You can substitute with other herbs like cilantro or chives.
  • Salt To taste.
  • Pepper To taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. If using frozen sardines, make sure to thaw them completely. Rinse the sardines under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
  2. In a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil, the minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Rub this mixture generously on the sardines.
Cooking
  1. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, or preheat your grill to medium-high.
  2. Place the sardines in the hot skillet or on the grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until they are golden and crispy.
Serving
  1. Remove from heat and drizzle with fresh lemon juice and a sprinkle of chopped herbs. Serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. You can also freeze sardines for future enjoyment. Reheat on a skillet over low heat to maintain crispiness.
