Ingredients

For the patties
  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • Olive oil for frying

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, add the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, crumbled feta cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic, oregano, salt, black pepper, and egg. Use your hands to thoroughly mix until everything is well combined.
  2. With your hands, form the mixture into patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter. Make sure they are evenly shaped to ensure consistent cooking.
Cooking
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add a generous swirl of olive oil. Let it heat up until shimmering, but not smoking.
  2. Carefully place the patties in the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they’re golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  3. Once cooked, place the patties on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Notes

If you want to mix things up, try using ground turkey or lean beef. Just make sure to keep everything halal-friendly! Don't skip letting the oil heat properly for a crispy exterior, and ensure your patties are evenly shaped for uniform cooking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months and reheat in a skillet or oven.
