Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour Can substitute with almond flour or all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
Optional Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup raisins or chopped nuts Optional, for added flavor and texture

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until evenly mixed.
  3. In another bowl, mix together the unsweetened applesauce and honey or maple syrup until well blended.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry mixture, stirring until combined. Fold in raisins or nuts if using.
  5. Use a spoon or cookie scoop to drop rounded tablespoons of the dough onto a lined baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges become lightly golden.
  2. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to five days. These cookies can also be frozen for up to three months. To reheat, microwave for a few seconds or warm in the oven at a low temperature.
