  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Measure carefully for the best texture.
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder Check freshness for best results.
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest (from about 1 medium lemon)
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
Glaze Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar For glaze; adjust based on sweetness preference.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, turn the dough out and gently knead for about 1-2 minutes until smooth.
  6. Roll the dough out into a rectangle (about 1/2 inch thick). Cut into strips (around 1 inch wide) and roll into tight rolls.
  7. Place the rolls in a greased baking pan, ensuring a little space between each for rising.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the tops are lightly golden.
Glazing
  1. Mix powdered sugar with lemon juice to create a glaze. Drizzle over warm rolls after baking.
