  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is well-softened for better blending.
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 zest of 1 lemon
  • 1 juice of 1 lemon
  • Powdered sugar for icing (optional) Can be used for garnishing.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix well.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, lemon zest, and lemon juice.
  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the softened butter until blended.
  6. Lightly flour a clean surface, pour the dough onto the surface, knead it a few times, and roll it out into a rectangle about 1/2 inch thick.
  7. Cut into strips and roll each strip into a spiral.
  8. Place the rolls in a greased baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Allow the rolls to cool slightly and drizzle with powdered sugar icing if desired.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 1 month. Reheat at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes.
