Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until no longer pink, then drain excess fat.
  3. In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce at the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top. Next, layer half of the ricotta cheese and half of the cooked meat. Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella and a generous amount of marinara sauce.
  4. Add another layer of lasagna noodles followed by the remaining ricotta, ground meat, mozzarella, and marinara. Finally, top it off with the last 3 lasagna noodles, remaining marinara sauce, and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Let it sit for a few minutes before cutting into squares. Serve hot and enjoy.

Notes

For a vegetarian version, substitute the meat with cooked lentils or sautéed mushrooms. Allow the plate to rest for proper setting.
