Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef or turkey. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until no longer pink, then drain excess fat.
- In a 9x13 inch baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce at the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles on top. Next, layer half of the ricotta cheese and half of the cooked meat. Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella and a generous amount of marinara sauce.
- Add another layer of lasagna noodles followed by the remaining ricotta, ground meat, mozzarella, and marinara. Finally, top it off with the last 3 lasagna noodles, remaining marinara sauce, and remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let it sit for a few minutes before cutting into squares. Serve hot and enjoy.
Notes
For a vegetarian version, substitute the meat with cooked lentils or sautéed mushrooms. Allow the plate to rest for proper setting.
