Method
Dough Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, egg, and melted butter.
- Gradually add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients and knead until a smooth dough forms, about 5-7 minutes.
First Rise
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm area for 30-45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
- In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
Shaping Buns
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal portions.
- Roll each piece into a ball and flatten it.
- Add a tablespoon of cream cheese mixture to the center and seal the dough around it, forming a ball.
Second Rise
- Place the buns seam-side down on a lined baking sheet. Let them rise again for 20-30 minutes.
Topping Preparation
- While the dough is rising, mix melted butter with minced garlic.
- Once the buns have risen, gently brush the garlic butter mixture over each bun.
Baking
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake the buns for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serving
- Remove from the oven, and while they are still warm, sprinkle with chopped green onions.
- Enjoy your Korean Cream Cheese Garlic Buns warm!
Notes
