Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 3.5 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 teaspoons Instant Yeast Make sure the yeast is fresh for best results.
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Warm Milk Must be warm, not hot.
  • 1 large Egg At room temperature.
  • 3 tablespoons Butter Melted.
Filling Ingredients
  • 6 ounces Cream Cheese Softened.
  • 4 cloves Garlic Minced.
Topping Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons Butter For topping, melted.
  • 2 tablespoons Green Onions Chopped, for garnish.

Method

Dough Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the warm milk, egg, and melted butter.
  3. Gradually add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients and knead until a smooth dough forms, about 5-7 minutes.
First Rise
  1. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm area for 30-45 minutes, or until doubled in size.
Filling Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, minced garlic, and a pinch of salt. Set aside.
Shaping Buns
  1. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal portions.
  2. Roll each piece into a ball and flatten it.
  3. Add a tablespoon of cream cheese mixture to the center and seal the dough around it, forming a ball.
Second Rise
  1. Place the buns seam-side down on a lined baking sheet. Let them rise again for 20-30 minutes.
Topping Preparation
  1. While the dough is rising, mix melted butter with minced garlic.
  2. Once the buns have risen, gently brush the garlic butter mixture over each bun.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bake the buns for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven, and while they are still warm, sprinkle with chopped green onions.
  2. Enjoy your Korean Cream Cheese Garlic Buns warm!
