  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey Choose your preferred meat
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For a gooey filling
  • 1 cup diced bell peppers Choose your favorite colors
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 piece pre-made pizza dough Store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 1 egg for egg wash Optional

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the ground meat. Break it into pieces and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Toss in the diced bell peppers and onions. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the veggies are slightly tender. Remove from heat.
  4. On a floured surface, roll out your pizza dough into a rectangle, about 12 inches by 15 inches.
  5. Spread the cooked meat mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving about an inch border. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top.
  6. Carefully start rolling the dough from one end to the other, ensuring the filling stays inside. Pinch or seal the edges to secure the Stromboli.
  7. Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with an egg wash if you desire a shiny finish.
  8. Put it in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm!

Notes

Use fresh ingredients for better flavor. Don't overfill to avoid a messy Stromboli. You can experiment with other fillings like spinach or ricotta!
