Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil. Once hot, add the ground meat. Break it into pieces and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Toss in the diced bell peppers and onions. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until the veggies are slightly tender. Remove from heat.
- On a floured surface, roll out your pizza dough into a rectangle, about 12 inches by 15 inches.
- Spread the cooked meat mixture evenly over the rolled-out dough, leaving about an inch border. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the top.
- Carefully start rolling the dough from one end to the other, ensuring the filling stays inside. Pinch or seal the edges to secure the Stromboli.
- Place the rolled Stromboli seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with an egg wash if you desire a shiny finish.
- Put it in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and cooked through.
- Allow it to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm!
Notes
Use fresh ingredients for better flavor. Don't overfill to avoid a messy Stromboli. You can experiment with other fillings like spinach or ricotta!
