Preparation and Baking
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking.
- Roll out the pastry dough on a clean, floured surface until it’s about 1/4 inch thick. Cut it into rectangles (around 4 x 6 inches).
- Spoon a tablespoon of chocolate fudge sauce onto the center of half of the rectangles. Be careful not to overfill; you want to keep some space around the edges for sealing.
- On top of the fudge sauce, add a small scoop of vanilla ice cream, ensuring it’s slightly softened but not melted.
- Place another rectangle of pastry dough on top and press down around the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative finish.
- Place the filled pastries on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
- Once out of the oven, allow them to cool for a few minutes. Top your Hot Fudge Sundae Pop Tarts with whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles, and a maraschino cherry.
Notes
If you have leftovers, refrigerate them in an airtight container for up to 3 days. You can also freeze them before baking for up to a month. Bake from frozen, adding a couple of extra minutes to the baking time.
