Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 package pastry dough Can substitute with puff pastry or graham cracker crust.
  • 1 cup chocolate fudge sauce Ensure it’s not too hot when filling.
  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream Should be slightly softened.
  • as needed whipped cream For topping.
  • as needed chocolate sprinkles For decoration.
  • as needed maraschino cherries For topping.

Method

Preparation and Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it’s hot and ready for baking.
  2. Roll out the pastry dough on a clean, floured surface until it’s about 1/4 inch thick. Cut it into rectangles (around 4 x 6 inches).
  3. Spoon a tablespoon of chocolate fudge sauce onto the center of half of the rectangles. Be careful not to overfill; you want to keep some space around the edges for sealing.
  4. On top of the fudge sauce, add a small scoop of vanilla ice cream, ensuring it’s slightly softened but not melted.
  5. Place another rectangle of pastry dough on top and press down around the edges to seal. Use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative finish.
  6. Place the filled pastries on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown.
  7. Once out of the oven, allow them to cool for a few minutes. Top your Hot Fudge Sundae Pop Tarts with whipped cream, chocolate sprinkles, and a maraschino cherry.

Notes

If you have leftovers, refrigerate them in an airtight container for up to 3 days. You can also freeze them before baking for up to a month. Bake from frozen, adding a couple of extra minutes to the baking time.
