- Gather all necessary ingredients. Make sure to have your measuring spoons handy.
- In a medium saucepan, pour in the can of tomato sauce and add the 1/4 cup of water to achieve a nice, cohesive sauce.
- Sprinkle in the chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, and sugar. Stir well to combine all the spices with the tomato sauce.
- Add salt to your preference. Taste the sauce as you go! If you like it spicier, consider adding more chili powder.
- Place the saucepan on medium heat and allow the sauce to simmer for about 5–7 minutes to meld the flavors.
- Once cooked, let the sauce cool down. You can use it right away or transfer it to an airtight container for later use.
