Ingredients

For the Stuffing
  • 1 loaf 1 loaf of bread, cubed (preferably stale for added texture) Stale bread works best for texture.
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup of butter
  • 1 medium 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 2 cups 2 cups of chicken or vegetable broth Use chicken or vegetable broth.
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon of dried sage
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon of dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cubing your loaf of bread into bite-sized pieces. If it’s fresh, consider letting it sit out for a few hours to dry. Stale bread will absorb the flavors better!
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and celery, sautéing until they are softened and fragrant, around 5-7 minutes.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cubed bread, sautéed onion and celery, and dried herbs. Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth gradually, stirring until the bread absorbs the liquid. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the stuffing mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  5. Once baked, let it cool for a few minutes before digging in. Serve it as a side or stand-alone dish and watch it disappear!

Notes

Mix in additional roasted nuts or fresh herbs just before serving for added flavor. Make sure to bake just long enough to get that golden hue while keeping the center moist.
