Preparation
- Wash the fresh plums under cold water, pat them dry, cut them in half, and remove the pits. Chop the plums into smaller pieces.
Cooking
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the chopped plums, sugar, water, and lemon juice. Stir gently to incorporate all the ingredients.
- Place the saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- If you prefer a smoother syrup, use an immersion blender to puree the mixture to your desired consistency. For a chunkier texture, skip this step.
- If you want a clear syrup, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a clean jar.
- Allow the syrup to cool completely before transferring to an airtight container.
Notes
Storing: Refrigerate for up to two weeks or freeze in ice cube trays for longer storage. Reheat on low heat or in the microwave.
