Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast 1 packet
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup warm water about 110°F
  • 2 ½ to 3 cups all-purpose flour Adjust as necessary for dough consistency
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Method

Preparing the Dough
  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 ½ cups flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix until it forms a sticky dough. Gradually add more flour, if necessary, to make a dough that you can knead. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Lightly grease a bowl, place the dough in it, and cover with a kitchen towel. Allow it to rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
Baking the Pizza Crust
  1. Once risen, punch down the dough and roll it out into your desired thickness. Place it on a greased pizza stone or baking sheet.
  2. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C). Pre-bake the crust for about 5-7 minutes until it’s slightly golden.
  3. Add your favorite toppings and bake the pizza for an additional 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, place pizza slices in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes. You can freeze unbaked dough or slices wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and aluminum foil for up to 3 months.
