Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 pounds boneless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces Use Halal-certified soy sauce.
  • 0.5 cup orange juice
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch For coating the chicken.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Oil for frying

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by cutting your boneless chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Set aside about 1/4 cup of this mixture for later.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the bowl and let them marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Remove the chicken pieces and toss them in cornstarch.
Cooking
  1. Heat up your frying oil in a large pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Drop in the coated chicken pieces in batches and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-6 minutes per batch.
  3. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and let them drain on paper towels.
  4. In another pan, add the reserved marinade over medium heat and bring it to a simmer for about 3-5 minutes until it thickens.
  5. Toss the crispy chicken in the thickened sauce until fully coated.
Serving
  1. Serve hot, garnished with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

To make it spicier, add a teaspoon of chili flakes or sriracha to the sauce. If using leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
