  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 28 ounces can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional) To balance acidity

  • to taste Fresh parsley, chopped
  • to taste Black pepper

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and cook for 2-3 minutes until translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes and stir well to combine.
  4. Sprinkle in the salt, add sugar if desired, and then bring the mixture to a simmer.
  5. Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Stir in the freshly chopped basil and parsley, adjusting seasoning with black pepper to taste.
  7. Your homemade marinara sauce is ready! Serve it over pasta, as a pizza base, or simply enjoy it with some crusty bread.

Notes
