Preparation
- In a mixing bowl, start by adding your ground beef. Sprinkle the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, and sugar over the meat.
- Using your hands, gently mix all the ingredients together until they’re evenly incorporated. Make sure not to overmix, or your sausage may become too tough.
- Take a handful of the meat mixture and shape it into a patty about 1/2-inch thick. You should get about 4-6 patties, depending on your size preference.
Cooking
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Once hot, place the patties in the skillet, cooking for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).
- Once fully cooked, remove from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes. Serve warm, and enjoy.
Notes
Feel free to swap out some spices based on your personal preference. For heat, add a bit of cayenne or chili powder. Keep an eye on the cooking time to avoid burning the patties. Don’t overmix your meat to keep the sausage light and tender. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
