Making the Dough
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, sugar, and baking powder. Mix well.

  3. Fold the edges over the filling and shape it into a cute little chick.
Decorating
  1. Use food coloring to dab on the eyes or add small nuggets of dough for wings to bring your Hiyoko Chick Manju to life.
Baking
  1. Place the shaped pastries onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes or until the tops are golden brown.
Cooling and Serving
  1. Let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy these adorable pastries warm or at room temperature.

Notes

If you're looking to elevate your Hiyoko Chick Manju, consider using a sprinkle of powdered sugar or a drizzle of chocolate sauce as toppings. Make sure not to overwork the dough for a fluffy texture! Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for about a week.
