Ingredients

Pie Crust
  • 1 whole refrigerated pie crust (or homemade, if preferred)
Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef or chicken (Halal-approved)
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 1/2 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (ensure Halal)
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (Halal-friendly)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese (your choice, optional)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, add a dash of oil and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the ground beef or chicken, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until thoroughly browned.
  4. Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until tender.
  5. Pour in the cream of mushroom soup and Worcestershire sauce, adding salt and pepper. Mix well and let it simmer.
  6. In a pie dish, lay one of the pie crusts and pour the filling mixture into it. Sprinkle grated cheese on top if desired.
  7. Cover with the second crust, seal edges, and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
  2. Let the pie sit for about 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For ingredient substitutions, try turkey or lentils instead of ground meat. Check your pie about 5 minutes before scheduled time to avoid over-baking. To thicken a watery filling, consider adding cornstarch.
