Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add a dash of oil and sauté the chopped onion and minced garlic for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef or chicken, breaking it apart with a spatula, and cook until thoroughly browned.
- Stir in the frozen mixed vegetables and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until tender.
- Pour in the cream of mushroom soup and Worcestershire sauce, adding salt and pepper. Mix well and let it simmer.
- In a pie dish, lay one of the pie crusts and pour the filling mixture into it. Sprinkle grated cheese on top if desired.
- Cover with the second crust, seal edges, and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
- Let the pie sit for about 5 minutes before slicing.
Notes
For ingredient substitutions, try turkey or lentils instead of ground meat. Check your pie about 5 minutes before scheduled time to avoid over-baking. To thicken a watery filling, consider adding cornstarch.
