High Protein Chocolate Banana Bread

Ingredients
  

Wet Ingredients
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed Choose ripe bananas for maximum sweetness.
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt Make sure it’s plain and unsweetened.
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup protein powder Your choice, but aim for Halal-approved.
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Add-Ins
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Optional but highly recommended for chocolate lovers.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease a loaf pan with cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  4. Add Greek yogurt, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Mix well until fully combined.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, protein powder, oats, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture into the wet ingredients. Stir until just combined.
  7. Fold in chocolate chips gently.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  2. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

Consider using almond flour or oats for a gluten-free option. Substitute honey with agave syrup for a vegan version. Let the bread sit for a few hours before slicing for richer flavor. Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.
